CHOI KWANG DO IS A MARTIAL ART DEVELOPED BY KWANG JO CHOI

Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi  is a former South Korean national champion in taekwondo, and is one of the twelve original masters of taekwondo of the Korea Taekwon-Do Association.

Our training is based on individual needs, capabilities, skill levels and age. Since our primary goals are to prevent or reduce illness and disease, and to promote optimum health and longevity by minimizing degeneration of body and mind, we also welcome those with limitations. Everyone is welcome at Peachtree Choi Kwang Do!

The style relies more on flexibility and fluidity of movement, as opposed to the more rigid lines of some other martial arts. To achieve this, it employs yoga-based stretching to develop the flexibility of practitioners.

Peachtree Choi Kwang Do in Peachtree City, GA offers a fun, friendly, challenging, and safe environment for our students where you learn martial arts, gain confidence, improve focus, and increase self discipline and respect.  As you learn the art of self defense, you also focus on sportsmanship, healthy competition, and leadership.

 Peachtree Choi Kwang Do offers a unique program in which our professional and caring instructors motivate students through encouragement and personal attention versus that of harsh teaching techniques or through competition. Students progress at their own rate while learning the most effective self-defense in the world.

Carol, wife of 27 years, Adam - son in college, and Rachel - daughter in high school/college, have all achieved black belts in Choi Kwang Do.

Each of us are committed to providing a “family friendly” environment and supporting all students on the progression toward improving their health and achieving their goals in Choi Kwang Do.

All four of us trained at the Choi Kwang Do International Headquarters, our founder’s own school located in Kennesaw GA.

WHAT OUR FRIENDS SAY ABOUT US

DYNAMIC STRETCHING rotational movements to loosen joints, get the blood circulating, and short stretching of large muscle groups

BASIC TECHNIQUES blocks, punches, and kicks that are additive with each belt rank

SILENT THINKING about one minute of sitting with eyes closed - while listening to your own breath, in through the nose, out through the mouth, with a pause in-between. This is one of the simplest forms of meditation and reflection

STATIC STRETCHING

while the muscles and joints are warm, longer stretching of the whole body promotes flexibility and joint movement. Many stretches are Yoga or Pilates in origin

CLOSE RANGE DRILL while Choi Kwang Do does not involve grabs, locks or throws, drills are practiced to extract yourself from an attacker that does grapple you. These drills are also structured for safety and confidence building

TARGET TRAINING floor or hand-held padded targets that increase hand-eye coordination, power generation, and cardiac stamina

    • Partners, not opponents, practice carefully designed defense drills, which progress in difficulty while the student progresses through the belt ranks.
    • Stationary or hand held targets are used to practice development of technical power and cardiac stamina.
    • Movements in the air are not performed with great force or locked out joints, which degrade the body over time and often lead to injury.
    • No sparring or breaking boards.

    •  In addition, with competition removed, students can continually develop — not against each other, but with each other. With a progressive system from White belt to highest level of Black belt, Choi Kwang Do always offers you something new and challenging to learn, experience and enjoy.
  • SCIENTIFICALLY DESIGNED

    • Joint and muscle strength, mobility level, range of motion in joints, endurance and fitness can gradually be improved with Choi Kwang Do.
    • Practitioners not only show you how to produce maximum force and promote health, but also to decrease the chance of injury.
    • Choi Kwang Do is not traditional or mystical based.
    • Movements in the air are flowing, without strain, and utilize proper body mechanics to increase strength, flexibility and avoid sports related injury.
    • We utilize controlled defense drills, with a partner and not an opponent, to gain confidence in blocking simulated - incoming attacks, and muscle-memory in performing self-defense combinations to eliminate a threat.
    • We utilize air shields and stationary targets that are padded. These provide strength conditioning, stress relief and demonstration of power.
    • Locking joints with abrupt stops can cause joint irritation and hyper-extension.
    • Techniques are based on bio-mechanical principles — sudden, jerky movements are not used and can damage your joints over time.

FAMILY CLASS

Ages 5 to 95

Peachtree Choi Kwang Do’s Family Martial Arts class develops self-confidence, A+ self-discipline, and the character and leadership capabilities of each student, in a safe and fun family environment.

Classes are designed for parents, children and grandparents to train at the same time, in the same place. Good family memories and overall family health is the goal.

We also equip kids for bully defense and prepare adults with self-defense skills, all in one class.

ADULT CLASS

At Peachtree Choi Kwang Do, we offer a well balanced program for adults that emphasize self-esteem, fitness and integrity. By following high standards, we bring out the best in our students and increase their quality of life.

LION CLASS

Choi Kwang Do in Peachtree City offers a fun, friendly, challenging, and safe environment for our special needs students where they learn martial arts, gain confidence, improve focus, and increase self discipline and respect.  As your child learns the art of self defense, they also focus on sportsmanship, healthy competition, and leadership.
